HEALTH Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today said he never received any funds from Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB), which had given money to former home minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and other politicians, according to court evidence.
“I have never personally received anything. I did not receive any money.
“I am prepared to cooperate fully (if summoned),” media reporting on Khairy at an event in Selangor today said.
Khairy and other politicians who were given funds, were recorded under codenames or nicknames in a UKSB ledger. This emerged in court last week when witnesses testified in Zahid’s corruption trial for receiving kickbacks to ensure UKSB retained the contract for a foreign visa system while he was home minister.
According to former UKSB director Wan Quoris Shah Wan Abdul Ghani, Khairy was not given the funds directly but through the Rembau Umno division for use as political aid, disaster relief and humanitarian activities. Khairy was then the division’s deputy head, the youth and sports minister and also Umno Youth chief.
The amount given to the Rembau division was in contributions of between RM50,000 and RM200,000, Wan Quoris said.
According to former UKSB administrative manager David Tan Siong Sun, the ledger recorded payments between 2014 to 2018 to several politicians whose identities were obscured in code or nicknames.
The letters “KJ” were also recorded in a UKSB ledger, another prosecution witness from UKSB, Harry Lee Vui Khun, had told the court. The ledger recorded payments made by UKSB to several individuals from 2014 to 2018.
Another politician on the ledger included subsequent home minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who was given a total of RM1.3 million in 2018 while he held the portfolio under Pakatan Harapan. Other politicians named were Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Hishammuddin Hussein, Mohd Shafie Apdal and Anifah Aman.
Following the evidence in court, Muhyiddin denied receiving any funds from UKSB, saying he was seeking treatment for cancer on the dates given by the witness. – June 21, 2022.
