Adibah Noor loses battle with cancer


SINGER Adibah Noor Mohamed Omar died this evening after a battle with ovarian cancer. She was 52.

Her passing was announced by a friend and former actress Emylia Rosnaida on social media.

Adibah was at the Gleneagles Hospital in Kuala Lumpur when she died, Emylia was also quoted as saying to Berita Harian.

Adibah, who was born on September 3, 1970, was a graduate in Teaching English as a Second Language, but became multi-talented in show business, acting in several films, besides singing as well as working as a voiceover talent and master of ceremonies.

Films that enhanced her popularity include the late Yasmin Ahmad’s Sepet and Gubra.

As a singer, she swept several awards in the 2006 Anugerah Juara Lagu for her song Terlalu Istimewa.

News of her passing this evening quickly caused an outpouring of grief on Twitter, and her name is currently trending in tweets on the social media platform. – June 18, 2022.
