2,130 new Covid cases, one death

MALAYSIA logged 2,130 fresh Covid-19 infections yesterday, taking total cases since the onset of the pandemic to 4,536,795. 

One virus-linked death was reported yesterday, in Sarawak, taking the death toll to 35,731. 

Selangor registered the most fresh cases at 776, followed by Kuala Lumpur (553) and Penang (168). 

Perak logged 148 cases, Sabah (115), Negri Sembilan (82), Johor (60), Malacca (54), Sarawak (53), Kedah (44), Pahang (26), Putrajaya (22), Terengganu (14), Kelantan (11) and Perlis (4). 

Active cases rose to 25,626 as 1,080 people recovered from the disease. 

Among the active cases, 24,585, or 95.9%, of them were in home quarantine, 13 (0.1%) in low-risk quarantine centres, and 993 (3.9%) in hospitals.

Thirty-five patients were in the intensive care unit, 19 of whom required respiratory assistance. – June 18, 2022.
