Woman dies in NSE tour bus crash


A WOMAN was killed when the tour bus in which she was travelling crashed with a 20-tonne trailer lorry at Km 425.8 of the North-South Expressway in Bukit Beruntung, Selangor, early today.

The other 39 passengers and drivers of the two vehicles escaped with minor injuries.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the bus is believed to have crashed into the back of the trailer lorry coming from the same direction in the 3.30am accident.

The victim, Hamaizah Fadzilah, 54, sat in the front seat and was most affected by the frontal impact of the collision, he added.

“She was pinned to her seat. We managed to extract her at 5.13am. She was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, which is opened under section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Hulu Langat police chief Arsad Kamaruddin said the bus was heading to Kuala Lumpur from Kuala Kedah when the crash occurred.

The victim’s remains were taken for post-mortem to Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital. – Bernama, June 17, 2022.
