Free rides on all RapidKL services for a month, says PM

FOR a month starting today, there will be no charges imposed on all services under RapidKL, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced today.

He said these services include light rail transit (LRT), mass rail transit (MRT), bus rapid transit (BRT), monorail and RapidKL buses.

Ismail said the initiative was to help Malaysians cope with the rising cost of living. 

“In conjunction with the official launch of the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 today, I am glad to announce that all public transport operated by RapidKL, namely MRT, LRT, BRT, monorail and RapidKL buses, will be free for one month beginning today,” he said at the launch in Kuala Lumpur. 

Phase 1 of the MRT Putrajaya line will begin operating at 3pm today.

The 12 stations that will be open are Kwasa Damansara, Kampung Selamat, Sungai Buloh, Damansara Damai, Sri Damansara Barat, Sri Damansara Sentral, Sri Damansara Timur, Metro Prima, Kepong Baru, Jinjang, Sri Delima and Kampung Batu.

Phase 2, from Kampung Batu to Putrajaya, will begin operations next January. – June 16, 2022.

  • What a waste of tax payers money. RM155 million could have been better used for the general public all over Malaysia. So much money just to benefit a small segment of people.
