2,092 new virus cases, 4 deaths


MALAYSIA reported an increase in new Covid-19 cases yesterday with 2,092, compared to 1,571 cases the day before. 

The country has logged 4,528,390 infections since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the CovidNow website showed.

Selangor posted the highest number of infections yesterday with 1,251, followed by Kuala Lumpur (261) and Penang (105).

Negri Sembilan saw 24 new cases, Perak (74) Johor (68), Sarawak (25), Malacca (46), Putrajaya (55), Kedah (50), Pahang (12), Sabah (72), Terengganu (19), Kelantan (25) and Perlis (3) and Labuan (1). 

Four deaths from infection were recorded, three of them in Penang. One person died in Selangor, where the patient was declared dead on arrival.

The death toll stood at 35,716. 

Twenty-four people were in intensive care units, 12 of whom required respiratory support. – June 14, 2022.
