BEIJING authorities have classified as “severe” a Covid-19 outbreak that started in an upscale bar in the posh and populous Chaoyang neighbourhood, after at least 166 people are infected, reported Sputnik.

“The Covid-19 outbreak in Heaven bar in Chaoyang is severe in both concentration and scale. It is harder to control and prevent from spreading than the last one,” said city government spokesman Xu Hejian.

The outbreak started this week, and spread to 14 districts in a matter of days.

Beijing authorities plan to test Chaoyang residents from today to Wednesday.
