SWISS police have announced a tragic end to the search for West Java governor Ridwan Kamil’s eldest son, who was reported missing on May 26.
Emmeril Khan Mumtadz, 22, was found dead in an overflow basin of the Engehalde weir in Bern, Switzerland, at 6.50am on June 8.
An autopsy confirmed his identity and the cause of death as drowning, said Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland Muliaman D. Hadad.
Emmeril Khan, during a morning swim in the Aare River, was believed to have been swept away by a sudden surge, while his sister and a friend were saved by other swimmers.
It took 12 days for authorities to find his body.
Emmeril Khan was pursuing a master’s degree programme in the capital of Switzerland. – Bernama, June 10, 2022.
