MALAYSIA logged 1,128 fresh Covid-19 infections yesterday, the Health Ministry reported.
The new cases took the total number of infections in the country to 4,517,447 since the onset of the pandemic.
Nine more people died of the virus, four of whom were dead on arrival (DOA).
The death toll stood at 35,699, of which 7,567 were DOA.
Most populous state Selangor recorded the highest number of infections yesterday with 598, followed by Kuala Lumpur (170).
Penang reported 78 cases, Sabah (63), Perak (47), Johor (44), Kedah (34), Negri Sembilan (26), Sarawak (22), Malacca (12), Kelantan (10), Pahang (8), Terengganu (7), Putrajaya (6), Perlis (3).
Two deaths each occurred in Kedah (both DOA) and Malacca and one each in Johor, Penang, Selangor, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur.
Malacca and Kuala Lumpur each registered one DOA case.
Active cases stood at 21,202, of which 20,239 patients were home quarantined, 918 hospitalised and 20 in low-risk quarantine centres.
Twenty-five patients were in the intensive care unit, 12 of them on respiratory support. β June 8, 2022.
