THE food security crisis needs to be immediately addressed, especially as the world is currently facing numerous challenges, said Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
His Majesty decreed that a long-term plan be drawn up to strengthen food security and ensure the cost of living is at an appropriate level.
“I hope that my government and leaders at all levels address the survival problems plaguing some of my subjects, including the high cost of living, as well as the rising industrial and food commodity prices.
“My advice is, do not let there be seeds of dispute each time the country is faced with food security issues and rising cost of living. We should all focus on helping restore the welfare of the people.
The Agong said blaming each other when things go wrong will not help or defend the fate of the people.
Malaysians must play a role by cultivating frugality and prudent spending, he added.
His Majesty said leaders must also provide support to the people, who are faced with challenges.
“Leaders are the backbone of the people’s hopes. They must carry the people’s happiness and hardship.”
The Agong, in his royal address, thanked all members of the administration, civil sector, healthcare sector and security forces who have devoted themselves to the country.
He advised Malaysians to continue to practise personal healthcare to create a conducive and safe environment. – Bernama, June 6, 2022.
