1,591 new Covid cases, 5 deaths

MALAYSIA recorded 1,591 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the total number of active cases in the country to 21,480.

Five of the new cases were imported. 

There were 2,185 recoveries from infection. 

More than 95% of the cases were observing home quarantine and 18, or 0.1%, were in low-risk quarantine and treatment centres.

Only 4.1% of active cases, or 922 patients, were hospitalised.

Selangor posted the highest number of hospital admissions yesterday at 141, followed by Johor (73) and Sabah (72).

Twenty-seven patients were in intensive care; 17 of them required ventilator support.

Meanwhile, health authorities posted five deaths, taking the Covid-19 death toll to 35,686.

Four deaths were recorded in Selangor and one, in Johor.

Covid-19 has infected 4,513,631 people in Malaysia since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. – June 5, 2022.
