THREE prospective haj pilgrims have tested positive for the coronavirus, said Indonesia’s Haj Health Centre.

The two people from Jakarta and one from Surabaya took PCR tests and their results returned positive.

Haj Health Centre head Budi Sylvana said all prospective haj pilgrims must take PCR tests before entering their respective dormitories yesterday.

The trio will undergo a five-day quarantine and test negative on days four and five before the authorities reschedule their flights.

The three candidates are supposed to be in the first batch of haj pilgrims, comprising 2,776 people from Bekasi, Jakarta, Padang, Solo and Surabaya, who left for the holy land this morning.
