Jobless man allegedly cons woman out of RM560,000


AN unemployed man claimed trial to cheating a shop owner in connection with the purchase of non-existence jewellery at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today.

Mohamad Faeez Amirul Mohd Fauzi, 30, was charged with cheating Nurhaya Ab Aziz, 42, by duping her to hand over RM560,000 in cash for the purchase of the products.

He allegedly committed the offence at a residential unit in Jalan Conlay on May 20.

The charge comes under section 420 of the penal code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine and whipping upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Zulaaikha Mohd Apandi prosecuted, and lawyer Haziq Aziz represented the accused.

Judge Kamarudin Kamsun fixed bail at RM50,000 with one surety.

He also ordered the accused to surrender his passport to the court and report to the nearest police station once a month.

The court fixed mention on July 5.

Faeez Amirul also claimed trial to cheating a woman to purchase a non-existence hotel accommodation package at the magistrates’ court in Kuala Lumpur today.

The victim, Fati Nikmatul Adawiyah Hanifiah, 34, was duped into handing over RM14,950.

He allegedly committed the offence at a cafe at Wangsa Maju on August 5, 2020.

The charge comes under section 420 of the penal code.

Faeez Amirul also claimed trial to an alternative charge of cheating the woman on a similar offence, at the same location and date.

The charge comes under section 417 of the penal code.

The accused faces a jail term of up to five years or fine, or both, upon conviction.

Magistrate Mohamad Fared Abdul Latif allowed bail at RM5,000 in one surety and fixed mention on July 5. – Bernama, June 3, 2022.
