THE 11th chief of defence force Gen (Rtd) Dr Abdul Rahman Abdul Hamid died early this morning at the Tuanku Mizan Military Hospital (HTTM) due to a lung infection. He was 83.
The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), in a statement, said that Abdul Rahman was admitted to HTTM on May 25 and his health began to deteriorate yesterday. He died at 2.15am.
“Funeral prayers will be held at the Khalid Al Walid Mosque at the Defence Ministry after the Zohor prayers.
“Abdul Rahman will be laid to rest at the Sakinah Raudah Muslim cemetery in Sg Besi,” it said.
Abdul Rahman joined the armed forces in 1955 and was appointed as the chief of defence force in April 1992 before retiring in February 1994.
He leaves behind his wife Rosilah Ahmad and four children. – Bernama, June 2, 2022.
