1,325 new Covid cases, 4 deaths


MALAYSIA posted 1,325 new Covid-19 infections over a 24-hour period, taking the total number of cases to 4,505,059 since the start of the pandemic, the Health Ministry said.

The CovidNow website showed Selangor logged the highest amount of infections with 611, followed by Kuala Lumpur (218) and Penang (94).

Other states and federal territories with new infections were Penang (94), Perak (82), Johor (51), Kedah (50), Negri Sembilan (48), Malacca (41), Sabah (41), Putrajaya (35), Sarawak (14), Kelantan (13), Pahang (13), Terengganu (11) and Perlis (3). 

Meanwhile, the country also recorded four deaths, one of them dead on arrival.

Two of the deaths occurred in Kedah and one each in Malacca and Negri Sembilan. 

Since the pandemic, Malaysia has filed 35,669 virus-linked deaths.

The fatality rate stood at 0.1% and the cumulative fatality rate, at 0.8%. – May 31, 2022.
