RAFIZI Ramli, who won in his bid to become PKR deputy president, said he will arrange an immediate meeting with the party president to prepare for the 15th general election (GE15).

PKR will become stronger when all its members, from the grassroots to president Anwar Ibrahim, share a common strategy and effectively discharge their duties, he added.

Rafizi also thanked members for electing him to the number two post of the 23-year-old party.

“In the history of PKR polls, never has a candidate for the deputy president post secured such a big mandate.

“Getting almost 60% of the popular vote and more than 80% of all divisions nationwide supporting me,” he said on Facebook today.

“I know it is not because grassroots members like me more than Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. I know I am but an ordinary member without any post and who has many weaknesses.”

Rafizi, who is a former party vice-president, said the grassroots gave a strong mandate to an ordinary member as they want the party to return to the path of reform on which it was built.

He urged party leaders at all levels to graciously accept the decisions of the grassroots.

According to unofficial results on the official party portal, Rafizi bagged 68,451 votes, while Saifuddin Nasution bagged 48,223 votes in their bid for the deputy president post.

The official results will be announced at the PKR Congress on June 25 and 26. – Bernama, May 30, 2022.
