PKR must now close ranks and focus on winning the 15th general election after concluding its polls, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said.

“(Although) some of us have emerged victorious while others have not, I believe that our desire to serve our party and the people remains undimmed.

“The time has now come for us to put aside our differences, to close ranks and regain the trust of the rakyat.

“Our focus must now be on winning GE15 and reversing the disastrous policies of the last two governments,” said the Setiawangsa MP in a statement today.

Nik Nazmi was commenting on the unofficial PKR election results that had team Ayuh Malaysia! winning some of the top spots in the party.

Although the president’s post was uncontested again, former vice-president and Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli and his team won the deputy presidency and three out of four of the vice presidents’ spots.

“I would also like to congratulate Rafizi for being successfully elected as the deputy president; Amirudin Shari, Chang Lih Kang and Aminuddin Harun who were elected as vice-presidents alongside me.

“With the Anwar-Rafizi pairing, I am confident this is the best ticket for PKR to face GE15,” he said in the statement.

According to Nik Nazmi, PKR has retained their “one member, one vote” system and introduced electronic voting with the ADIL app.

He said that although this was innovative, turnout was, however, low at around 13.5%.

“This is a sign more needs to be done to energise PKR’s grassroots.

“We must find ways to energise our members, not just by adding new members and branches but also empowering them,” said Nik Nazmi. – May 30, 2022.
