MALAYSIA yesterday recorded 1,155 new Covid-19 infections, a slight drop from the 1,877 cases logged the day before, said the Health Ministry.
Overall cases have now reached 4,503,734 infections since the pandemic began in 2020.
Three of yesterday’s new cases were imported.
Recoveries again surpassed the number of new cases at 1,975 while active cases stood at 24,393.
The ministry said 23,403, or 95.9%, or the patients were isolated at home while 17, or 0.1%, are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres.
It said 939 or 3.8% patients were hospitalised, 34 of them in intensive care. Eighteen required ventilator support.
Five virus-linked deaths were reported yesterday, one of which was dead on arrival.
Sarawak logged two of the deaths and Perak, Perlis, and Selangor one each.
This month has seen 118 coronavirus deaths so far.
The death toll stood at 35,665. – May 30, 2022.
