1,918 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

MALAYSIA’S daily Covid-19 cases rose yesterday, logging 1,918 infections, from just 1,544 the day before, the Health Ministry reported.

The new cases bring the total number of infections to 4,494,782. 

The ministry’s CovidNow website shows that Selangor recorded the highest number of cases, at 831, followed by Kuala Lumpur (413) and Penang (124). 

Other states and federal territories that reported infections were Negri Sembilan (118), Malacca (104), Kedah (62), Johor (56), Perak (56), Sabah (52), Sarawak (34), Putrajaya (20), Pahang (19), Kelantan (13), Terengganu (13), Perlis (2) and Labuan (1). 

Meanwhile, the country also recorded two deaths, both in Johor.

Since the start of the pandemic, Malaysia has recorded 35,647 Covid-19 deaths. 

The fatality rate stood at 0.2% and the cumulative fatality rate, 0.8%. – May 25, 2022.
