MALAYSIA logged 1,817 fresh Covid-19 infections yesterday, the Health Ministry reported.
The new infections took the cumulative number of cases since the onset of the pandemic to 4,491,320.
Two deaths were reported, of which one was declared dead on arrival (DOA).
Death toll is now at 35,643, where 7,551 of them are DOA cases.
Selangor reported the most number of cases yesterday with 768 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur (331) and Penang (140).
Malacca was the only state to report daily cases in triple digits with 104 infections.
Other states and territories reporting new cases were Negri Sembilan (98), Perak (85), Johor (69), Kedah (52), Sabah (43), Putrajaya (36), Sarawak (35), Pahang (22), Kelantan (15), Terengganu (12), Perlis (6) and Labuan (1).

Selangor and Kedah reported one death each, with the latter registering the sole DOA case yesterday.
Active cases dropped to 26,511 as 3,389 recoveries were recorded yesterday.
Among the active cases, 25,366, or 95.7%, of them were in home quarantine, 18 (0.1%) in low-risk quarantine centres, and 1,087 (4.1%) in hospitals.
Forty patients were in the intensive care unit, 23 of whom required respiratory assistance. β May 23, 2022.
