THE 2022 PKR polls results will probably be delayed as more than a dozen divisions have to re-poll, sources told The Malaysian Insight.

According to party leaders familiar with the situation, divisions in at least five states will have to redo their voting.

“We will not get any result today or even on Monday, as there are a few divisions in Kelantan that will have to re-vote due to technical issues,” said one source.

“The same goes for one division each in Kedah, Terengganu, Selangor and Johor.”

The PKR elections committee cannot announce any result until all divisions are done voting, said the source.

“Otherwise, we will have disputes.”

Other sources confirmed that the Padang Serai division in Kedah and Hulu Selangor division in Selangor will have to re-poll.

Regarding Padang Serai, the PKR elections committee sent a letter dated May 20 to the division instructing it to postpone polls following reports from the technical team.

“The new date for re-voting at the Padang Serai division will be informed later,” said committee chairman Zaliha Mustafa in the letter sighted by The Malaysian Insight.

The Hulu Selangor division also received a similar notice.

Malaysiakini reported that polling at the Hulu Selangor division was called off as necessary equipment did not arrive on time, causing party members to arrive at an empty venue.

PKR has been conducting its polls by states in a hybrid manner. Tomorrow is the last day of polling.

Unofficial reports of the results are expected on Monday, but the official outcome will be confirmed only at the PKR congress next month.

According to the committee, 67,419 PKR members voted via the Adil application from May 18 to 19.

Zaliha, speaking to Bernama, said 76,926 members registered to vote online.

Online voting, implemented for the first time, proceeded smoothly. As for physical polling, only 90,304 members (8%) cast their ballots as of yesterday.

A total of 1.11 million PKR members are eligible to vote in the party polls this year, while 11,282 candidates are contesting for posts at the central, branch and wing levels. – May 21, 2022.
