Body of missing Gunung Suku hiker found after a week

THE body of one of two women hikers washed away by a water surge in Gunung Suku, Simpang Pulai, Perak, last Sunday was found today, on the seventh day of the search-and-rescue (SAR) operation.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Muhamad Shahrizal Aris said the remains are intact, but have head and body injuries.

“The body of a woman was found under a pile of debris in Sector C (tunnel area near Jalan Besar) at 11.20am today. It was handed over to police at 11.55am.

“The SAR operation resumed at 9am and ended at 1pm.”

The SAR team found body parts believed to belong to one of the two hikers on Monday.

See Su Yen, 32, from Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, and Ng Yee Chew, 46, from Klang, Selangor, were reportedly carried away by strong currents in the 5am incident last Sunday. – Bernama, May 21, 2022.
