ELON Musk’s companies Starlink and SpaceX will invest in the satellite and internet industry in Malaysia, Mohamed Azmin Ali said.
The international trade and industry minister told reporters that the American companies signalled their interest in Malaysia during his official visit to their headquarters in Los Angeles recently.
“I met with SpaceX and Starlink representatives while I was in Los Angeles. These two Elon Musk-owned companies can build a satellite to ensure better and cheaper internet connections in the rural areas,” said Azmin at an event in Gombak Setia today.
“They are prepared to invest in Malaysia and will come here next week to finalise a few proposals. We welcome these companies that plan to invest in Malaysia,” said the Bersatu leader.
Starlink is a high-speed internet provider that is owned by Tesla’s Musk and operates in 30 countries including New Zealand, northern America and Europe.
Musk recently hit the headlines in Malaysia following Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s official trip to the United States for an Asean leaders meeting.
And while Ismail said that he invited Tesla to invest in Malaysia, the billionaire met up with Indonesia President Joko Widodo instead.
According to reports, Musk is interested in investing in the battery manufacturing industry in Indonesia. – May 21, 2022.
