Cops hunt for driver involved in fatal NSE crash


SEREMBAN police are tracking down the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal accident that claimed the life of a polytechnic student at Km 252 of the North-South Expressway early today.

Seremban police chief Nanda Maarof said Muhammad Naufal Amjad, 19, from Kampung Banggol Tok Jiring in Terengganu, died at the scene due to severe head and body injuries in the 1.45am accident.

“Investigations revealed that the crash is believed to have occurred while the victim was travelling northbound on his motorcycle. So far, there is only one witness who can help with the investigation.

“The accident site is a straight road with three one-way lanes, and there are no street lights. The weather was fine and the road was dry when the accident occurred.”

He urged witnesses or anyone who recorded the crash to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting officer-in-charge Mohd Zaman Mohd Hayal at 012-717-3867.

The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital.

Naufal was a Merlimau Melaka Polytechnic student.

The case is being investigated under section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama, May 20, 2022.
