RAFIZI Ramli has called on the PKR election committee to consider postponing the ongoing party polls until voting discrepancies are sorted out.

The former Pandan MP who is in the running for the deputy president post said physical voting should be put on hold until the voting system has been fully tested.

He said that this is to prevent cancellations, delays and disagreements among party members.

“I hope that the election committee will raise this matter with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim so that a fair decision can be made on the matter.

“My stand throughout this campaign is professional and I take no part in any decision that will influence the polls.

“So, the right decision is to go through the proper channels by sending an official complaint to the committee as they are in charge of the polls,” he said in Facebook post today.

The official complaint letter was addressed to election committee chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

Rafizi said some of the issues he found with the election system was that the Adil voting application was not fully tested.

“I believe that the committee was given two or three months, which is not enough time to develop and fully test the app.

“Physical and online applications should be tested with a larger audience, where else the system now was deployed without it fully being tested.

“There is also a lot of conflicting and incomplete data on members’ registration, where sometimes the system can’t recognise the members’ identification.”

Rafizi will be contesting the deputy president post against PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Among the issues Rafizi alleged is that the Adil system allows for members to vote multiple times.

“This also opens the system to fraud when a member can bring other members’ ID and vote several times.”

He added that in the previous party polls, 20,000 votes were lost while data was being uploaded online.

“I was a victim when party branches such as Pandan, Selayang, Pensiangan and others faced this problem. I only lost by 3,000 votes according to the final data.

“The risk of this happening again is unacceptable.”

Rafizi ran for PKR deputy president in 2018, challenging Mohamed Azmin Ali, who was the incumbent and retained the post.

The PKR polls started on May 13 and will go on until May 22 by order of states. All party members can vote physically or through the app. – May 15, 2022.
