2,246 new Covid cases, 1 death

COVID-19 cases in Malaysia continued to spike with 2,246 new cases yesterday, compared with 1,251 on Sunday.

The CovidNow website showed that the new infections brought the cumulative cases to 4,461,135 since the start of the pandemic.

Only one death occurred yesterday in Kedah, bringing the total number of Covid-19 deaths to 35,584.

The Klang Valley contributed 1,425 of the new cases – 1,160 of them in Selangor, 261 in Kuala Lumpur, and four in Putrajaya. 

Penang reported 151 cases, followed by Negri Sembilan (116), Johor (104), Perak (97), Kedah (92), Malacca (51), Kelantan (46), Sarawak (39), Sabah (38), Pahang (36), Terengganu (32), Perlis (13), and Labuan (6).

The fatality rate stood at 0.3% and the cumulative fatality rate, 0.8%. – May 10, 2022.
