MALAYSIA yesterday posted 2,579 new coronavirus infections with six deaths.

Total cases reached 4,445,897 and the death toll, 35,542. 

Selangor reported the bulk of yesterday’s cases with 1,180, followed by Kuala Lumpur (376) and Penang (209). 

Perak logged 175, Negri Sembilan (141), Johor (105), Malacca (80), Sarawak (72), Pahang (58), Kedah (57), Sabah (46), Putrajaya (42), Terengganu (16), Kelantan (12), Perlis (9) and Labuan (1).

Three deaths were reported in Selangor and one each in Perak, Sabah and Terengganu.

Active cases dropped to 50,294 as 6,055 people recovered from the virus. 

A total of 48,924, or 97.3%, of the active cases were in home quarantine, 34 (0.1%) in low-risk quarantine centres and 1,258 (2.5%) in hospitals. 

Seventy-eight of them were admitted to the intensive care unit, where 50 of them were intubated. – April 30, 2022.
