SELANGOR police have confirmed that two individuals seen using excessive force during the arrest of a man in a viral video are personnel from the state contingent headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

State CID chief Baharudin Taib said the officers were in the process of arresting a local man.

He urged the public or any independent witness who saw the incident to step forward to assist in investigation by contacting the nearest police station.

He was commenting on a one-minute 25-second video of police using excessive force during an arrest that went viral on Twitter.

He said police will investigate the incident under section 323 of the penal code. – Bernama, April 23, 2022.
