9,705 new Covid-19 cases, 12 deaths

MALAYSIA posted 9,705 fresh Covid-19 cases yesterday, a slight increase from 9,673 new infections the previous day.

A dozen virus deaths were reported yesterday, half of which were declared dead on arrival (DOA).

The death toll stood at 35,409, about a fifth, or 7,484, of which were DOA.

Total infections stood at 4,382,402 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

Selangor saw 6,568 new cases, Kuala Lumpur (673) and Putrajaya (32), accounting for  7,273, or 75%, of yesterday’s infections.

Other states and territories reporting new cases were Negri Sembilan (420), Perak (384), Penang (359), Johor (313), Malacca (288), Kedah (163), Terengganu (133), Pahang (132), Sarawak (121), Sabah (63), Kelantan (45), Perlis (6) and Labuan (5).

Johor logged three new deaths; Kedah, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, two each; and Penang, Sabah, Selangor, one each.

Two of the DOA cases were reported in Negri Sembilan and one each in Johor, Kedah, Penang and Sabah. – April 17, 2022.
