THE lawsuit filed by a production company against actor Ben Amir over alleged breach of agreement was settled amicably at the Sessions Court, Kuala Lumpur.

The settlement was reached after Ben Amir, whose real name is Muhammad Amir Sabaruddin, 32, as the defendant, agreed to pay RM100,000 to Elisa Vision Sdn Bhd as the plaintiff in the suit.

Based on the consent order, Judge Tasnim Abu Bakar said Amir was required to pay RM100,000 in five installments of RM20,000 starting May 10.

“If the defendant (Amir) fails to pay the money (RM100,000), the original amount of RM211,477 claimed by the plaintiff in the lawsuit must be returned by the defendant,” said the judge who then recorded the consent order at today’s proceedings which was set for the first day trial.

The court recorded the withdrawal of the counterclaim filed by the Sweet Dreams drama actor against the production company.

In March last year, Elisa Vision filed the suit, claiming that the actor had violated the agreement after refusing to set a new date for the filming of the drama series titled “Demi”.

Based on the statement of claim, the plaintiff said the defendant should get involved in the filming of three episodes of the drama within 13 days.

However, during the filming of the drama in Scotland, the defendant returned to Malaysia on March 27, 2020, without the plaintiff’s knowledge.

The plaintiff intended to continue filming the drama in Malaysia from January 4 to February 14, 2021, but the defendant in a letter dated October 14, 2020, through his management SJ Global refused to set a new filming date and stated that the agreement had been terminated.

This has caused the production company to suffer losses and besides seeking RM211,477.08 in damages, the plaintiff is also seeking interest, cost and other relief deemed appropriate by the court. – Bernama, April 14, 2022.
