MOH reports 10,052 new Covid-19 cases

MALAYSIA reported an increase in Covid-19 infections with 10,052 cases recorded yesterday.

This is the first time in three days that the country reported more than 10,000 new cases.

The Ministry of Health said there have been 4.35 million Covid-19 infections to date.

Malaysia also posted 22 new Covid-19 deaths, of which six were declared dead on arrival (DOA). 

The death toll is now 35,363, with 7,468 fatalities reported DOA.

The Klang Valley contributed 6,928 of the new cases, comprising 6,156 in Selangor, 716 in Kuala Lumpur and 56 in Putrajaya.

Other states and territories reporting new cases were Johor (318), Kedah (302), Kelantan (128), Malacca (144), Negri Sembilan (552), Pahang (176), Perak (470), Perlis (16), Penang (345), Sabah (158), Sarawak (295), Terengganu (205), and Labuan (15). 

Of the 22 fatalities reported, Selangor recorded seven deaths, followed by Malacca and Perak (3), Johor, Kedah and Pahang (2), and Kelantan, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur (1).

There were no deaths in Negri Sembilan, Perlis, Penang, Sarawak, Terengganu, Labuan or Putrajaya.

The fatality rate stood at 0.2% and the cumulative fatality rate, at 0.8%. – April 14, 2022.
