THAI police are looking for two men who threw home-made explosives near the entrance to the prime minister’s residence in Bangkok last night.
There was a small explosion, but no casualty or injury was reported in the 7.50pm (local time) incident.
Government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said two ping-pong bombs were hurled onto the lawn in front of the security booth at the entrance of the 1st Infantry Regiment at Vibhavi Rangsit Road in Bangkok, where Prayuth Chan-o-cha’s residence is located.
The prime minister has no comment and has not given any specific instruction on the incident, he added.
“CCTV footage shows two men riding on a motorcycle towards the front gate of the 1st Infantry Regiment and the pillion rider hurling the bombs, which landed on the lawn in front of the security booth.”
He said the regiment has filed a report and that police are hunting for the culprits.
The prime minister will continue to work at his residence during the long Songkran holidays this week, he added. – Bernama, April 11, 2022.
