FORMER Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak has decided to contest the vice-president’s post in the upcoming party polls instead of the widely speculated deputy’s position.

Farhash said he wanted to give way to PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to go up against Rafizi Ramli for the deputy president’s post.

“Actually, many in the grassroots asked me to contest the deputy president’s post but as I mentioned before, I wanted to give way to Saifuddin to go for the deputy president’s post against Rafizi.

“I have decided to run for the vice-president’s post, and, Insyallah, we hope to have a clean race. We want to serve the party and the people,” he told reporters after submitting his candidacy at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.

Farhash also confirmed he will contest the post of Gombak division chief, currently held by Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

Meanwhile, Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil has also offered to contest the vice-president’s post.

The PKR communications director submitted his nomination form at the PKR headquarters at about 2pm this afternoon.

Fahmi said he hoped his experience as PKR’s communications director for nine years would give him an advantage.

Fahmi also confirmed he would be defending his position as Lembah Pantai division chief.

At least six other candidates have registered to contest for the three vice-presidential seats, including Chang Lih Kang and MPs Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (Setiawangsa) and Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid (Kapar).

The nomination process for the PKR elections were conducted in-person and virtually.
