MOH says Covid-19 hospital admissions down to 543

HOSPITAL admissions for Covid-19 yesterday dropped to 543 compared to 562 the previous day, the Ministry of Health said.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 317 cases were in categories 1 and 2, while 226 cases were in categories 3, 4 and 5.

There were 110 admissions in Selangor, followed by Perak (61), Johor (60) and Penang (57).

Other states and territories reporting new hospitalisations were Kedah (33), Kuala Lumpur (52), Putrajaya (14), Negri Sembilan (20), Malacca (11), Pahang (25), Terengganu (19), Kelantan (21), Sabah (19), Sarawak (39) and Perlis (2).

Labuan did not record any virus admissions in the past 24 hours. Noor Hisham added that 558 patients were discharged from hospitals yesterday.

Of the 10,002 new infections logged yesterday, Noor Hisham said that 9,913 (99.11%) of the cases were asymptomatic or mild (categories of 1 and 2).

The remaining 89 cases were in the serious categories of 3, 4 and 5.

Noor Hisham said 31 of the 89 serious cases were not fully vaccinated.

He said 34 patients had received two doses but had not taken their booster shot, while the remaining 24 had taken their booster jabs.

Noor Hisham said 51 cases were people above the age of 60, while 60 patients had comorbidities.

Meanwhile, he said only intensive care unit (ICU) utilisation in Kuala Lumpur (60%) and Perlis (55%) had exceeded 50% capacity. He said that nearly 16% of ventilators nationwide were utilised.

Finally, Noor Hisham said 12,065 beds were available for non-critical cases, with 3,625 (30%) occupied. – April 5, 2022.
