Daily death total at 56, 30 from Selangor, KL and Perak

MALAYSIA reported 56 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, of which 11 were pronounced dead on arrival (DOA).

Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Perak accounted for a total of 30 deaths , reporting 10 fatalities each.

The death toll is now at 35,069, of which 7,391 are DOA cases.

Daily Covid-19 cases continued to decline on the second day of international border reopening as Malaysia logged 14,692 new cases yesterday. 

According to the Health Ministry’s GitHub portal, 218 new cases were imported while the remaining 14,474 were local transmissions. 

The new cases brought the country’s total infections since the onset of the pandemic to 4.23 million. 

Almost 70% of the new cases were recorded in the Klang Valley region. 

Selangor logged 8,662 cases, Kuala Lumpur (1,311) and Putrajaya (68). 

Other states ans territories reporting new cases are Johor (664), Sarawak (596), Perak (555), Pahang (535), Kedah (464), Penang (440), Negri Sembilan (394), Malacca (317), Sabah (234), Terengganu (210), Kelantan (146), Labuan (51) and Perlis (45). 

On Covid-19 deaths, the Ministry had clarified that daily reported deaths do not take place in a single day but within the last 72 hours.

This means that the 56 deaths occurred within the last three days.

Besides the deaths in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Kedah, other states that reported new fatalities are Johor (8), Kedah (7), Malacca (3), Negri Sembilan and Pahang (2 each), Penang, Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu (1 each). 

Of the 11 DOA cases, five were in Selangor, two each in Kedah and Perak, one each in Johor and Malacca.

The fatality rate stood at 0.3% and the cumulative fatality rate, at 0.8%. – April 3, 2022.
