OPPOSITION leader Anwar Ibrahim said there has been discussion between Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin and him but had never discussed supporting the Bersatu chairman to become prime minister again.

The PKR president, however, said the discussion did not involve any talk of collaboration.

“Meetings have been going on for some time. I can’t deny it, but no question was raised about the decision to form a coalition in support of him, it did not arise,” Anwar said.

The Port Dickson lawmaker stressed that the issue of whether PH would work with former prime minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad did not arise at this time.

“The topic of cooperation with Dr Mahathir did not arise,” he told reporters after a ceremony to celebrate Lim Kit Siang in Subang Jaya, last night.

Dr Mahathir who is chairman of Pejuang, revealed that Muhyiddin met with him to get support to become prime minister for the second time.

The Langkawi Member of Parliament said he would not support Muhyiddin’s request but had not yet made any decision on cooperation to face GE15.

Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir previously revealed that Muhyiddin had a meeting with Dr Mahathir in an effort to establish cooperation in GE15.

Mukhriz said, among the things that Muhyiddin proposed was to form a coalition between Bersatu and Pejuang.

Pejuang, however, said they had not given a final word on the matter after a meeting was held about two weeks ago. – April 2, 2022.
