UNIVERSITI Teknologi Mara (UiTM) lecturer Professor Dr Roshana Takim has been relieved of her teaching duties effective today after a video of her berating a student for not having a laptop went viral recently.

In a statement, the university said its board of directors, after a meeting, had decided to relieve Roshana of her lecturing duties starting today until investigation into the matter is concluded.

“This decision was made to ensure that the investigation can be done effectively and in an orderly manner,” it said.

A video of Roshana reprimanding the student for not being able to procure a laptop for his studies went viral on social media earlier this week.

The video was recorded during an online class in the previous semester.

Roshana was heard criticising the B40 category, which she claimed prioritised other things before their education, evoking fury among social media users. – April 1, 2022.
