THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will take stern action against its personnel who refuse to accept reports on domestic violence.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Abd Jalil Hassan said he views seriously claims that police have refused to receive reports on domestic violence.
The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry made the claims on Monday.
“Since the Domestic Violence Act 1994 came into force on June 1, 1996, PDRM has issued instructions on the handling of investigations involving domestic violence cases, which are to be complied with at all levels,” said Jalil.
“This includes disciplinary action against members who refuse to accept reports on such cases.”
Police have requested the ministry to provide more information on the matter to facilitate investigation and action can be taken against those involved, he added. – Bernama, March 30, 2022.
