NO one should attempt to convert Loh Siew Hong’s three children out of Islam, PAS said today.

It is the party’s information chief, Khairil Nizam Khirudin, “warning” anyone trying to do this following news that Loh has filed a judicial review application seeking a declaration that her ex-husband is legally unfit to convert her children to Islam.

“PAS would like to issue a stern warning to anyone who wishes to convert these children (out of Islam),” Khairil said is a statement posted on Facebook.

“Muslims in this country will unite to safeguard their religion (aqidah).”

He did not say what the consequences are in his warning.

He noted, however, that the Kuala Lumpur High Court when granting custody of the three children to Loh, did not touch on the issue of religion, let alone conversion.

“The children’s conversion to Islam was based on their understanding, awareness and willingness as free human beings (to be converted) as a result of their Islamic studies and education,” he said.

Khairil also urged all politicians, academics, mufti, preachers, civil society groups and Muslim Malaysians to unite to safeguard the faith of the 14-year-old twin girls and 10-year-old boy.

Loh was recently reunited with the children after locating them following her separation and divorce from her ex-husband, who is currently serving time in prison.

She discovered that her children had been converted without her consent and were placed in a welfare home in Perlis. 

The court recently upheld previous judicial orders granting her custody. – March 29, 2022.
