Ex-GLC manager to face court over transport contract awarded to wife

A former manager at a government-linked company has been held by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission today for allegedly misusing his position in the company to award his wife's company a RM80,000 transport deal in 2019. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, March 28, 2022.

THE Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a former manager at a government-linked company (GLC) for allegedly giving a RM80,000 transport deal to his wife’s company.

MACC sources said the 30-year-old man had used his position at the GLC to support his wife’s company which provides services to transport raw commodities.

He is believed to have committed the act in August 2019.

The suspect is currently working as a manager in his wife’s company.

He was arrested at the Selangor MACC office in Shah Alam when he turned up for questioning this afternoon.

“He will be charged in a court in Shah Alam tomorrow,” a source told The Malaysian Insight.

Meanwhile, Selangor MACC director Alias Salim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest.

He said the case was being investigated under section 23 of the MACC Act 2009. – March 28, 2022.
