CHINESE voters are urged to return their support to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th general election to safeguard their future and wellbeing.

Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the plight of the Chinese community would not be championed if they continue to support the opposition.

“In the Triang state constituency for example, whenever floods hit or problems occurred, the Chinese community would seek help from MCA, Gerakan and myself because their DAP representative could not help,” he said.

He said this after the handing over of contributions to 1,100 senior citizens in the Bera parliamentary constituency in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration at Rakan Muda Complex in Bera today.

As such, Ismail Sabri, who is also Umno Supreme Council member, said the Chinese community should be wise in making their decision and avoid electing the wrong representatives in the coming general election.

Unlike the opposition, he said the government under Prime Minister Najib Razak had implemented various policies to safeguard the welfare of the Chinese community in the country. – Bernama, February 10, 2018.

  • We are tired under the divide and rule regime. No more benefitting community by community, dictated by another community. Malaysians must be treated equal. It is Reformasi we are looking for, a bigger agenda in reforming the corrupt institutions, bringing about a brighter future. So long, b-end.

  • BN always talks up development when it comes to election. But the simple response to that is as a government, as long as you have money, you will eventually need to channel your investment somewhere. We're lucky we get some allocation this time. It's because we could be a battlefront state in the next election so you want to secure our votes. But what about those other communities or constituencies you have ignored? If you say you don't have the money, where did all the custom and excise duty collected for car sales, where did all the GST collected, and where did all the income tax collected go? In fact, we can safely say the opposition does not have the money because the taxes are not collected by them! We see wastages everywhere under the current federal government. We see government owing huge debts, perhaps some even unsustainable. Why are our tax money going to pay interest and debts and not other developments? When the voters become more enlightened, and they not only think about themselves but about other members of the community, they will realise that all these talk about allocation and physical improvement means nothing when the country continues to suffer from quality of education, misgovernance, abuse of power and endemic corruption. So, sure, you can give us a school hall. Yuou can give us water and electricity. But so can the alternative government. They can give more if they can save more from corruption. If my neighbours prosper, I will prosper too. The concept of "we can develop you" is so out of date.
