VETERAN lawmaker Lim Guan Eng should have avoided commenting on PKR’s internal issues, including its party elections, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said.
The Setiawangsa MP, in a Facebook post, said that as an experienced politician, Lim should have known that a party has its own due process, which includes electing its leadership.
“Several people have shared to me about Lim’s media interview that touched on PKR’s internal affairs.
“I understand some ‘naughty’ questions from the media but as a veteran in politics, Lim should know that we in PKR have our own process including electing our leadership.
“He could have said no on the question asked if it could cause speculation and controversy,” said the PKR lawmaker.
He was referring to Lim’s remarks in Malaysiakini on Rafizi Ramli’s criticism on Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) electoral strategy.
The former Pandan MP also claimed that PH’s presidential council was contemplating a pact with Perikatan Nasional for the forthcoming general election.
To this the DAP secretary-general said Rafizi’s criticism was directed at PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and suggested that Rafizi – who is vying for the PKR deputy presidency – run for the presidency instead.
Nik Nazmi, who is PKR’s organising secretary, further said he and his colleagues in PKR would not meddle in DAP’s affairs or would tell young DAP members on what they should do in the party.
“I hope Lim can take something out of this matter,” he said.
Recently, Rafizi announced that he would return to active politics after taking a break.
He said earlier this week that he would go after the deputy president’s post.
Rafizi’s first try for the post was in 2018 but lost to then PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali. – March 18, 2022.
