A total of 27,004 fresh Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, a figure that is lower than 28,298 logged the day before.
According to the Health Ministry’s data on its CovidNow website, the latest figure brings the cumulative number of infections since the onset of the pandemic to 3,927,437.
The number of deaths reported yesterday was 86 with 35 patients classified as dead on arrival.
The ministry said all the deaths reported for a day took place within a single day, but are reported by medical facilities to the ministry within 72 hours.
The death toll is now at 34,185.

On the breakdown of new infections yesterday, Selangor again reported the highest number of cases at 7,558, followed by Kuala Lumpur (3,266) and Penang (2,315).
Other states and territories reporting new cases were Johor (1,990), Kedah (1,916), Negri Sembilan (1,882), Perak (1,561), Sarawak (1,484), Pahang (1,434), Kelantan (863), Sabah (769), Terengganu (764), Malacca (750), Perlis (171), Putrajaya (150) and Labuan (131).
Perak, meanwhile, still recorded the highest number of deaths for two days in a row at 16, of which, four were dead on arrival.
Selangor recorded 14 deaths, followed by Kedah (10), Malacca (8), Johor (7), Terengganu, Sabah, Penang and Kelantan (6 each), Negeri Sembilan (4), Pahang (2), and Kuala Lumpur (1).
No Covid-linked deaths were reported in Perlis, Sarawak, Putrajaya and Labuan.
As of midnight, there were 296,799 active cases. Of this number, 373 were in intensive care units, with 225 requiring respiratory support.
There were also 29,450 recoveries. – March 18, 2022.
