A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has been remanded for two days from today, over his connection in a fire at a religious school in Marang, Terengganu, yesterday.

Magistrate Nurul Ain Engku Muda issued the remand order following an application from police for investigation under section 436 of the penal code for mischief by fire with intent to destroy a building.

In the 6pm incident, the Madrasah Al-Huda owner noticed a fire in the lecture room and immediately contacted the fire brigade. He later realised another blaze at the hostel and guesthouse near a surau in the school compound.

Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department director Md Hilman Abd Rashid yesterday said the department suspects arson and has handed over the case to police. – Bernama, March 15, 2022.
