MALAYSIA will increase its daily passenger quota for the vaccinated travel lane (VTL) by land to Singapore starting Monday, Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong said today.

This would see the current daily quota of 2,160 increase to 3,420 starting March 14, he said in a statement.

“This would allow even more fully vaccinated people to travel across the Causeway without being subject to quarantine and other related requirements,” he said.

Advanced sales of bus tickets for the additional quota can begin tomorrow, he added.

The quota has been increased in stages since the b-lateral agreement between Malaysia and Singapore began in December last year, except for a hiatus when Covid-19 cases spiked.

Malaysia’s designated bus operator will continue to operate the land VTL route to Singapore, departing from the Larkin Terminal in Johor Baru, Wee also said.

“Passengers will still be subject to existing land VTL travel requirements, including the pre-departure tests and on-arrival tests.” – March 10, 2022.
