RELEVANT ministries and agencies are swiftly mobilising to help victims of flash floods in Kuala Lumpur, said Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He also urged the public to drive safely during bad weather.

“Six areas in Kuala Lumpur are affected and inundated by flash floods,” he tweeted today.

“The relevant ministries and agencies are taking steps to ensure the safety of Keluarga Malaysia. Avoid flooded areas and be safe on the road.”

A heavy downpour caused flash floods in several parts of the capital city.

Viral photos show cars stuck on flooded roads and water levels rising in underground car parks.

Early reports said Jalan Kuchai Lama is badly affected, with several roads cut off by rising water. Jalan Pinang is also flooded.

Among affected areas are the Tabung Haji tunnel, Jalan Chan Sow Lin tunnel, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Pahang, Jalan Sri Permaisuri and Jalan Tun Razak.

As of 4.45pm, the water level in the city has been categorised as dangerous. – March 7, 2022.
