TWENTY cat carcasses have been found at Bukit Keluang Beach Resort in Besut, Terengganu, today. The animals are believed to have been poisoned.

Badrul Hafeezy Ali, 35, shared a video on the discovery of the dead cats on his Facebook page.

The video has since gone viral, receiving various reactions from social media users who are disappointed and sad over the incident.

Badrul said he was shocked when he stumbled upon the carcasses while relaxing at the beach.

“My friend, Roshanapi Osman, 39, and I were at the location at about 9.30am. We recognised all the stray cats as they were friendly with me because I would feed them whenever I had the time,” said the employee of Sultan Zainal Abidin University.

“I am very angry, sad and shocked at the attitude of the people who did this despicable act… what did the cats do to deserve this?

“I uploaded the video on Facebook, and some (users) suggested that I inform the Veterinary Services Department so an investigation can be carried out.”

Badrul has lodged a report at the Kampung Raja police station and said he hopes that those responsible will receive appropriate punishment.

Terengganu Veterinary Services Department head Dr Anun Man confirmed receiving a report on the matter, adding that an investigation will be carried out. – Bernama, March 6, 2022.
