A TOTAL of 345 Road Transport Department (RTD) officers are armed while on duty, said RTD Director-General Zailani Hashim.

He said arming department personnel is important due to possible threats from irresponsible parties.

“Every day, RTD personnel, especially those in enforcement, face threats. Therefore, being armed is important to give confidence to officers.

“Even though only officers are allowed to carry weapons, it will also give confidence to others who are carrying out their duties,” he told reporters at the RTD state headquarters in Kelantan today. – Bernama, March 6, 2022.
