HEALTH Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will meet the parents of Ravnesh Kumar, 13, whom they said had died after taking the Covid-19 vaccine.
Khairy said the meeting is expected to take place at his office in Putrajaya tomorrow.
“I will meet the boy’s father Naresh Kumar and mother Vijayarani Govindan tomorrow at my office tomorrow.”
“I want to share details of the teenager’s deaths with the parents first since this is personal,” Khairy said at a press conference in Hospital Serdang today.
The Malaysian Insight earlier reported that the parents believe that their son died due to the Covid-19 vaccine.
They are demanding an answer from the health ministry as the cause of their son’s death remains unknown after a post-mortem.
When asked if the details of the findings would be made public, Khairy said it was up to the parents to consent to that.
“If the parents agree for the information to be made public, then we will release it as anonymised data. This is in accordance with the ministry’s rules,” he said.
On when the report is to be released, Khairy explained it was because the assessment was conducted by the pharmacovigilance committee, which involves collection of blood and tissue samples that were sent to laboratories and the Chemistry Department.
“This is because we want to ensure that the investigation is complete, not only about the autopsy but also the delivery of blood and tissue samples to the laboratory.
“We were also waiting for the report from the Chemistry Department under the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry which we eceived today.
“So that’s why I will be meeting the parents tomorrow,” the health minister said.
Vijayarani had earlier said that Ravnesh received his first Pfizer vaccine shot on December 30, 2021 at Klinik Kesihatan in Precinct 18, Putrajaya.
On January 16, when Ravnesh was on the way to karate class when he collapsed in a lift and was rushed to Kajang Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. – March 3, 2022.
