DR Mahathir Mohamad is set to hit the campaign trail in Johor tomorrow with plans for him to attend two events in the Machap constituency.

Johor Pejuang chief Shahruddin Md Salleh is contesting in Machap.

This will be the Pejuang chairman’s first participation in the Johor election campaign after previously saying that he would not be taking part due to his health.

The former prime minister is recuperating at home after being discharged from the National Heart Institute on February 5 after undergoing treatment for about three weeks.

However, he had written three letters to Johor voters, urging them not to support Umno and its leaders, including Najib Razak.

In a press advisory released by his office this evening, Dr Mahathir is scheduled to have a luncheon meeting with the Chinese chambers in Ayer Hitam, followed by a visit to Felda Ayer Hitam.

He is also scheduled to hold a press conference after his second event.

Pejuang is contesting 42 of the 56 state seats in the March 12 elections.

In Machap, Shahruddin is in a four-cornered fight against Abd Taib Abu Bakar (Umno/BN), Azlisham Azhar (PAS) and Sangaran Rawisandran (Muda). – March 2, 2022.
